Last call
Tuba and PianoDuration 5’00
Deep Down is part of a series of short pieces for brass and piano. In this series, Robert Lemay tried to find a fusion between the piano and the brass rather than a juxtaposition. In this piece, we can speak of a true tuba and piano duet instead of a work for tuba with piano accompaniment. The two instruments become complementary to each other.
This piece was made possible with the financial support of the Canada Council for the Arts.

Robert Lemay du simple au double - Pdf
PDF version
For reed quintet (Oboe, Clarient, Alto Saxophone,Bass Clarinet and Bassoon)
Duration 8'15
The title can be translated as “From single to double” OR “ratio of one to two”.
Written for the Belgian reed quintet Woodwork Reed Quintet, the piece was premiered in Antwerp in November 2022.
The title refers to two things. First, the instrumentation. The instruments of this ensemble are single reeds (clarinets, saxophone) and double reeds (oboe and bassoon).
Second, the form of the piece. The work is a broad accelerando that gradually builds from quarter note=72 to quarter note=144.The metronomic speed of the last section is twice that of the beginning of the piece. From single to double. And the coda is at quarter note=36, half the initial tempo.
From double to single!
