Gabbeh
Viola, Santûr
Duration 05’
Gabbéh (means "rough", "natural" in Persian language) is a type of Persian carpet, made by the nomads, especially by the Ghashghâies, and generally by women. The symbolic patterns of Gabbéh, give it a particular character: nature, animals, trees, humans, the transhumance and the eternal cycle of life, are depicted with remarkable simplicity, beauty, and raw and pure. Gabbéh is a living painting in the shape of a carpet, because traditionally it has been made in resonance with dayly life: the patterns and colors are chosen unexpectedly, in relation to the feeling of the person who makes them. This score is a continuation of this honest mix of life and art, with several passages in free time, so that the music can breathe "the moment".
