Sylvain Kassap Laurel & Hardy - Pdf
Pdf Version
For Bb Clarinet and soprano saxophone
Duration 10'
Two instruments that we imagine almost similar, two musicians trying to play together the same thing, trying to play in unison ... but as in the films of the famous comic duo, slips, differences, discord, quibbling and bad faith occur....
At the end, no more communication, but paradoxically, from this absence is born another musical space, more ghostly, in which our protagonists wander like two like two characters from Samuel Beckett's theater.
The two parts were conceived to be played as two solos (Laurel for clarinet and Hardy for saxophone), hence the subtitle.
Laurel & Hardy, composed for Pierre Ragu (clarinet) & Jean-Pierre Baraglioli (saxophone), was premiered by Antoine Moulin (clarinet) & Fabrice François (saxophone) on May 5, 2019 at La Recyclerie de Lerné (France) as part of a concert by the ensemble Ptyx.
