Nicolas Brochec En demi-teinte - Pdf
Printed Version
For flute, clarinet in Bb, violin, cello and piano
Duration 11'

“En demi-teinte is inspired by the pictorial technique which has the same name and converts musically the idea of neither light nor dark in painting, into sound textures that are neither harmonious or discordant.
The piece develops without formally opposing harmonious textures to discordant textures and is organised into three scenes, two of which are clearly delimited in time while the third, which is more discreet, is inserted in the middle of the other two.
In the first scene the sound material flourishes and results in an abundance of textures. The second scene encourages a more introspective attention while listening to the textures, which are gradually deformed. The third scene is identified by the particularity of the motifs it contains and the sound atmosphere it releases.”
