Waves
for Orchestra
Duration 7’00
Waves is a work for orchestra in which the energy and fusion of orchestral timbres are central. The harmonic material comes from a melodic dedication to the Basel Sinfonietta, the work's commissioner. It is then varied, stretched and distorted, sometimes simulating certain electronic music processes such as Ringmodulation. All the registers of the orchestra are used as well as a large palette of colors and shades, always with an expressive purpose. The work can thus be perceived as a complex and multicolored organism, with gigantic breaths and gasps - or perhaps as the different conditions of a sea to be admired or crossed
